Fitness Review of 2006 - The Meaning of Fitness...


This time of year is always a great time to look back and reflect
on your life. As 2006 comes to an end and 2007 arrives (I realize
many readers may be on a different calendar - but the principles
are still relevant and applicable) I find myself focused on what
I've learned about fitness through interaction with so many
people all over the world, so many of you - my clients and
subscribers.


Regardless of age, 'fitness level', exercise experience, goals
and challenges - fitness success is a crucial element in 'balance
of life'.


When one's fitness has been neglected - a dangerous imbalance is
created and the consequences of this are evident around us every
day. The aging process is accelerated, illness is prevalent and
the state of optimal health has no room to grow - so, compromised
health is the result.



On the other end of the spectrum - fitness can be overdone - and
as a result - a different imbalance is created, resulting in many
of the same consequences. When 'fitness' becomes an all consuming
obsession it becomes destructive. Self-destructive and also
harmful to those around you. This is the exact opposite of what we
are trying to achieve through a fitness lifestyle.


I've realized that finding a natural balance of fitness in daily
life for many people is just as much a challenge as just finding
'the right program' - this has not been hard or me to pick up on
as it was one of my major challenges in life.


Many of these factors affect and are affected by each other - not
just on the physical level but even more so on the mental and
spiritual levels. When thoughts affect your actions (which is 100%
of the time) we realize that state of mind and thought processes
hold the keys to how your life unfolds and what you are able to
achieve in various aspects of our life.


The meaning of fitness is about finding balance in your
expectations of yourself and how you go about manifesting those
goals and expectations. For most of us, 2 and a half hours in the
gym is not realistic nor would it be 'health promoting'.


Nutrition is a critical element in helping us remain in a state of
'fitness balance' which is, by the way, a part of the definition of
'fitness success'.


Fitness success is not an end result - its a state of being.


Ponder this & answer the question - Who is experiencing 'fitness
success'?:


A sedentary mother of two, who has never exercised, is about 65
lbs overweight, low on energy & self esteem and realizes the best
thing she can do for her family is to start taking care of herself.


She starts exercising 30 - 40 minutes per day and paying attention
to her choices of food and beverage intake, making healthier
choices and making note of calories.


Each day she is making progress and feeling healthier, stronger
and 'sexier' - even though she has many pounds to go before her
health is in balance.


A male fitness/muscle fanatic spends over 2 hours in the gym, after
working from 9 - 5, 6 days per week. Spends hundreds of dollars
each month on 'muscle formulas' and various supplements. By most
peoples standards, he is in great shape. In his own mind, he is
fearful for what would happen if he cuts back on his workouts and
doesnt eat protein every 2 hours. In short, his 'fitness' rules his
mind and his life - instead of making it better and enhancing it.


Who is achieving 'fitness success'?



In 2007 - Aim for 'balance'. Its what life is about. But don't wait.
Start today - start working on your thought processes & your state
of mind by thinking proactively and not leaving your fate up to
your very impressionable subconscious.


Take control of your subconscious by being more conscious of your
thoughts and actions. Draw up your plans, gather your resources,
combine the 2 and get moving. Create your version of 'fitness
success' and your entire life benefits.

Hey Joey

My name is Joseph Ward the one Kathleen Ward bought the DVD's for.
I have been using the DVD's that were sent and feel I must compliment you on
a job well done. This is like gold dust to anyone who picked up lower back
or epically groin strains (sprint interval training six months ago ran into
a pothole you can guess the rest).

I just got back from a trek to the Himalayas and to get back into training
that didn't involve hours on treadmills is a god send.
I got the ultimate upper body DVD's as well because I lost all my upper body
strength and bulk through endurance training and cant wait to get back to
normal.

Thank you for some of the best workouts I have seen in a long time and I've
seen a lot (used to be a gym instructor years ago)

Hi Joey,

Just wanted to let you know that I am really happy with your DVD. Yes I
have been using it & it is really changing my shape!!!! Although I wasn't
overweight, I have never been able to shift weight from the thighs, to
achieve a look I was satisfied with. My hubby & I walk 50mins everyday & I
was working out another 40 mins about 5 days per week. I just couldn't
believe my shape couldn't change with all that. But since I've been doing
your dvd I've finally found POWER to achieve my goal. Thank you soooo much.
Knowledge of the right exercise is certainly the key!

I also really like the way there is no music on the dvd, it seems more like
a personal training session that way.

Yes - the Holidays are Here...

No major 'fitness info' today - except for me working ard on the New Joey Atlas Member Interactive Website - to be massively launched on January 1st or 2nd.

Most people don't know this, but I used to be a blonde when I was younger:







Just kidding - thats actually my son, JoJo, (he dyed his hair blond yesterday 'for football' season) - he's 'helping' me today (we just took the photo about 7 minutes ago) at the office - giving me his great input on the new site, etc. - the kids are out of school, lots of things going on this time of year that take our normal routines and shake 'em up a bit.



Darah is home sick with Mom (my wife Jeri-Jo), and Alexa is at a friends. Here is one of our recent Christmas photos (a little blury, but you get 'the picture'):










We all wish you and your family a Merry Christmas (or whichever version of it you celebrate) & a Happy, Prosperous and 'Fit' New Year.

As I've been mentioning over that past few months, the interactive membership site is coming along well. Its an incredible amount of non-stop 'work' (I'm enjoying every minute of it - even the frustrating moments - so I don't consider this work in the traditional sense.) but I'm am so energized by watching what used to be an amazing idea become an actual reality.

Joey Atlas Shot Twice, Brother Ends Up In Hand Cuffs

OK - lots to talk about today regarding your fitness - but before I clarify the Title you see above, here is a quick but IMPORTANT NOTE.

One of the biggest 'fitness complaints' is lack of energy. Most clients I've worked with have checked off 'I want to have more energy.' on their initial evaluation forms.

Most of the time the right fitness program with wise nutrition habits can bosst overall energy levels astronomically...

However there are certain instances where even very fit people can feel as if they have no energy at all. This was me a few years ago.

I would have bouts of full body, extreme fatigue and sleepiness. I would literally need to lie down and go to sleep sometimes right in the middle of the day - and this was not typical of me at all.

I let it go on for a while - but then decided I needed to be 'checked out' - based on my knowledge of allergies and my history with them - I decided to see an allergist.

I went thru the whole skin testing profile of every type of alergen in the environment - and we found out I was allergic to 37 'things' that are in our daily environment. The only logical treatment for this type of allergy profile is immunotherapy (IT) - of which I am a very BIG fan off.

IT. is not a symptom treating drug it actually fixes the source of the problem - it operates more like a homeopathic remedy is supposed to.---> for abut 12 weeks the Drs would actually inject the things that I am allergic to, into my body in very small amounts - but slowly increasing the amounts over time.

Eventuallly I would go every other week then every 3 weeks and know I go every 4 weeks - and each injection holds my highest dose of allergens for my maintenance stage - I get 2 shots, 1 in each arm (this is where I got the first half of my headline) - and they are so small, its hard to tell when the needle is in.

And the effects have been incredible - no more body busting fatigue and extreme sleepiness - high energy all the time. A tremendously helpful element in my fitness lifestyle.

I highly recommend immunotherapy to anyone with mulitple allergies who is a good candidate for the treatment (most people with allergies are).

So - now you are thinkin, "What about your brother ending up in handcuffs, Joey?"

The photo was taking a few years ago after, Domenick was cuffed and put into the back of the Police car in front of the house where we all grew up (we have a sister too, I'll get her on here soon enough.)

Any way - it was a happy day, very funny, lots of laughs the day Domenick had this photo taken. (I wasnt there, hence the photo for me - and I still laugh every single time I look at it - I keep it on my desk with photos of the rest of the fam...)

See, my brother is one of the funniest kid's (he's 33) on earth - he has put me in tears on many occasions & still can (and yes, I've done the same for him.)

Take a closer look: (and keep in mind, he's reading this too, with all 74,000 worldwide subscribers - so I know he's laughing pretty hard right now knowing how many people are seeing this.)




A police friend had stopped at the house, while he was out of the car, Dom got out a hat, pulled out a set of fake teeth (look at those babies!) took Randi's cuffs - climbed into the back seat and told my siste Marisa to take a few snapshots. Freakin' Hilarious !!

And if you know Dom - its that much funnier - thats why I laugh everytime I look at it.

Alright enough of the funny stuff - Dom is also in the fitness business - he's a great trainer and medical rehab specialist (and a great family guy too).

I plan too get some more photos (and some fitness tips from him) up of the 'other real Dom' and possibly an audio interview to be hosted via the new membership site in January.

Tell Me You Love Me & I'll Tell You A 'Big Secret'



OK - first things first - just so I don't offend anybody, I'm using the word love in a spiritual sense here, not an intimate one...

Now, if you don't love me yet (I know there are still a handful of you who haven't gotten to that point yet) - you will love me after reading this article. Its a long one but a good one - one that may change your life - FOREVER.

Last month Larry King hosted two shows dedicated to living life on your own terms - living the most ideal life you could ever wish for your self. Both shows had a panel of some of the best world recognized life improvement authors, coaches and experts.

One of them you probably know. Jack Canfield, who is the co-author of the 'Chicken Soup for the Soul' series of best selling books AND now sits upon one of the biggest publishing empires with his partner, Mark Victor Hansen. (Before these guys wrote the first Chicken Soup book [and made it a best seller despite being turned down by every major book publisher] - they were both hard working guys hardly known to anybody except for their immediate circle of family friends and biz associates.)

Another expert, Dr. Joe Vitale, was on the panel for show # 2, which aired on Nov. 16th, right beside Jack and several other incredible people.

The stuff that was being said on these 2 shows was unlike anything else - I mean it stopped my wife dead in her tracks - and that is hard to do after baby Darah goes to sleep - and there is alot to get done before bed...

The information being delivered was life changing stuff for those who listened, internalized and took action --> in this regard, Dr. Vitale absolutely rocked the house. Let me make it clear that there are people reading this right now who may have watched that show, or if they were watching it, would have said things like, "Oh come on, this is a bunch of bulls__t! - This kind of stuff can't happen. We can't control our lives.", etc, etc.

No problem - the world will always have people like this - and it is their choice to think like that...

Anyway - if you had a chance to watch it you know what I mean - if you didn't - you can still learn about what was being brought to light for the world to see hear and learn. This is where the 'Big Secret' comes in that I'm going to share with you.

Most of the experts on the show, including Dr. Vitale, took part in a movie called 'The Secret' - something everyone should at lerast be exposed to. (I just bought the audio CD version - at Amazon. - incredibly powerful stuff.)

I've had trainers before and they don't even come close to what you do, I also appreciate how dependable you are no one can say you don't keep in contact with your clients. I know I should, but I don't follow the diet I'm on my own diet which consist of simple control. I eat until I feel full and even if I only have a spoonful left if I'm full I just stop and put it up until I'm hungry again. I pretty much eat what I want but I don't eat before going to bed and I've cut back on drinks and coffee and substitute them for water which I hate so I put a lemon in it to give it a taste. I am a former Olympic athlete (alternate on 1980 US Ice Speed Skating Team), and see many similarities between your training routine and the one I used back in the 1980's. Your recommended nutritional diet is top notch!!! You must really care about people because in all honesty you do not charge enough money for your information. The information you gave me free, easily, should have cost me $50.

In addition to trying to qualify for the Champions Tour, I travel as an itinerant gospel preacher in the US and as a missionary in other countries. I deal with a lot of very ill people due to poor diet and lack of any exercise. I very seldom recommend anything to people other than a relationship with Jesus Christ. However, I find your information to be so accurate and full of common sense that I am going to recommend your web site in my travels.
