Fitness Lunch and a Movie

I usually only do this inside my members only site, Best Fitness Advice - but as my Halloween Treat to you, I'm making it available to everyone. Today I spent a few hours working on the book. Part of which was covering the subject of organic foods and beverages and how they play a part in our fitness success. One of the issues (albeit, diminishing) with organic food is cost.

Well - today I had a completely organic, body toning, fitness promoting lunch for $2.75!! Less than half the price of an artery clogging, sodium loaded, health crushing, fast food meal.

Below is the actual can of Lentil soup I ate. It's already cooked so you don't even have to heat it - just open and serve. NO EXCUSES!!

Info for entire can:

220 calories

42 grams of carbs

-- 16 of them FIBER!!

16 grams of muscle toning protein

Only 90 grams of naturally occuring sodium
- (I added some extra sea salt, too)

And I made a Mighty Mango Fitnessjuice(TM) (only 28 calories!) to go along with it.

And now for the movie. See below. Its about 9 minutes of footage shot this past weekend after we shot the bonus DVDs for my book, Fatness to Fitness.

Enjoy,

Here is a 9 minute 'behind the scenes' video clip of my interview with the production crew of the dvds we recently recorded. Again, it's a little rough but still valuable...

FREE fitness DVD and updates

Most of you know that I am working hard on my
first book in order to have it ready for early 2008 release. But,
unlike every other fitness book - I don't plan on including 50
pages of exercise photos with 'start' and 'finish' shots. No,
I plan on going way beyond that. The true way to learn how
to exercise is by watching a DVD, so you can see and hear all
the small details.

My plan is to include with the book a bonus DVD that will
teach a complete home workout routine. This will be
geared toward beginners and semi-beginners who are ready to
make a true commitment to fitness but don't want, or have time,
to get to the gym 5 or 6 times per week.

This DVD will also be very helpful for trainers who work with
clients in their homes or offices.

The book will provide lots of valuable insights, lessons,
strategies and time tested principles for permanent fitness
success - that will benefit you, no matter what level of
fitness you are currently at. Oh, and of course, it will
include the 30 day version of the Blow-Torch 'Di.et'.

We are set to professionally shoot this DVD this weekend, on
Sunday to be exact. As the book is now 3/4 done - we are
starting to pull together all the pieces of the puzzle
that will make this one of the top fitness/nutrition books
on the market, by virtue of how it helps anyone who is ready
to read and act on what they learn.

Speaking of DVD productions, many of you know that we plan to
release the Leg, butt, hip, thigh Makeover REMAKE in mid-2008.

Before it gets released to the public, it will first be made
available (at a 40 - 55% discount) to all of you who own the
the current LBHTMakeover version. It's my way of
saying 'thanks!' for believing in and using my programs.

Pretty cool, huh?

Regarding titles: 'Fatness to Fitness' seems to be the most
popular - but we will set up an official survey page soon so we
can make the results official. The survey will be similar to the
one we set up for my Fitnessjuice(TM) concept...

Speaking of which - I want to thank all of you who have taken the
time to answer those 4 questions - it has revealed some incredible insight as to how many others would like to see a
product like this on the market. There is a lot of work
involved with bringing a fitness beverage to market, but the more
research I do on the actual product that I make for myself, the
more I realize that there are benefits that are not offered
by any other RTD (ready to drink) beverage that is formulated
for the fitness lifestyle.

Here is just one little snippet of info that you may find
interesting and helpful - if not, I'll expand upon it next week:

---* This is from the Dietitians in Sport and Exercise Nutrition
website-------------------------------------------------

Drinking during exercise or sports aims to provide:

* Water and electrolytes to replace sweat losses
* Carbohydrate to supplement energy stores

The choice of drink will depend on whether you need a drink to replace fluid losses or to provide more energy / carbohydrate or both.

There are three types of drinks

* Hypotonic
* Isotonic
* Hypertonic

Hypotonic

Hypotonic drinks are absorbed into the body more quickly than plain water. They usually contain low levels of carbohydrate, less that 3g carbohydrate/100ml and may have a little salt added. They quench thirst and provide fluid, but do not provide significant amounts of energy.

When to Use: They are a good type of drink to choose when you want to replace fluid quickly without a lot of carbohydrate e.g. when training lasts for less than one hour and is of low intensity. They can also be useful if you need a high fluid intake when in a hot climate and do not want to consume too many calories

Isotonic

Isotonic drinks are absorbed as fast as or faster than plain water. In addition to replacing fluids they also provide carbohydrate, 5 - 8g carbohydrate/100ml.

They are designed to provide some carbohydrate to fuel the muscles, and have a little salt added to enhance the absorption and retention of fluid in your body. Most commercial sports drinks fall into this category.

When to use: Isotonic drinks are good for replacing fluids and providing carbohydrate if you are training for more than one hour. They can be drunk before, during and after exercise.

Hypertonic

In these drinks the carbohydrate content is much higher, usually more that 10g carbohydrate/100ml. Hypertonic drinks are absorbed more slowly than plain water. They replace lost energy rather than replacing fluids and therefore are not an effective fast way to re-hydrate. e.g. pure fruit juice, many canned drinks and energy drinks

When to use: These types of drinks are taken when energy replacement is the priority rather than fluids and can be used to top up your daily carbohydrate intake.

I'm uncovering more insights such as this one on a daily basis.
I'll share them as I find them.

Total Fitness - Beyond the Workouts

What we feed our cells has so much to do with our health and wellness. What you do for your workouts is an essential element to total fitness - but what you feed your body reaches to levels so deep they can't be seen with the naked eye. What/how we eat can make or break us.

Many of you already know about the Fitnessjuice(TM) concept and how it came about. It's another project I'm working on along with several others. As I do my 'homework' to find out what it takes to launch a true fitness beverage so I can plan and execute properly - there is a lot I'm learning that can benefit you too. I've come across so many articles with vital fitness promoting info - that most people would miss if you weren't specifically looking for it. I'll share some of them here today...

First here is a beverage industry article with some great quotes from various sources - This article reinforces most of my philosophy about nutrition and about most of the products already in the market place, it also highlights a few of the key reasons why I started formulating my own 'fitness beverage':

Fake Fitness Beverages?

If you've been a client or subscriber long enough - you know my views on clean foods - more specifically - organics versus non-organically produced foods and beverages. [So much happens at the cellular level when it comes to our health and longevity that it makes so much common sense to put the cleanest nutrients as possible into our bodies....]

Over the past year we've noticed Walmart adding more organic items to their stores - which hold many issues and opinions - In general I think its great - but read this article to hear a few more perspectives:

Every Body Wants Organic Foods (and Drinks)

Here is another article about some of the differences between organic foods and non-organic foods (This whole site has great info and blog posts.):

You Might Become What You Eat

Well - I have more but I don't want to overload you with too much reading material.

Regarding my book - we just finished Chapter 4 and Ch. 5 will be done next week - at this pace the book should be released in January or February - It's gonna be a good one.

The Perfect Fitness Drink

We've been getting lots of emails and inquiries about the fitness beverage I've been making for me, my family and a few of my clients, that I posted about last week. I truly believe it's a product that can benefit MANY people - so I am slowly pursuing the possibilities of making Fitnessjuice(TM) a reality and I'd love your input.

Below is a link to a short survey I created to get your direct input about the Perfect Fitness drink. It will take no more than 43 seconds for you to fill out - but I would tremendously appreciate you help.

No Such Thing as Willpower

We always hear about 'willpower' being the reason why some people
have the ability to get into and stay in shape - or the lack of
willpower being the reason so many people experience 'fitness
failure'.

The truth is we all have willpower in unlimited amounts - the
difference is whether or not you want to use it. So - the real
buzzword should be 'wantpower'. Definition: How powerful is your
desire to succeed? How bad do you WANT to be fit and healthy.

Your 'wantpower' will dictate whether or not you choose to
use your willpower to your advantage or keep using it as an excuse to prevent you from becoming who you want to be and
feeling how you want to feel.

Alright - on to this week's awesome emails from around the globe:

--------------------------------------------

Hi Joey

I just wanted to say that your no frills fitness DVDs are spot on. I'm interested about learning how to do exercises
properly and am not concerned about what music is or isn't playing in the background. To me, your DVD's are
just like having my own personal trainer next to me, you explain things slowly and show people the right way
to do these exercises to get maximum benefit from them.

I started the LBHT makeover about a month ago and it has definitely helped me strengthen my legs for the half
marathon I did on the 30th September. I finished the half marathon with hardly any aches and pains and alot of
that is down to your DVD, so thank you for that! Keep up the good work, you're a great motivator and I really
enjoy receiving your emails, they are very informative!

Regards

Sarah Morley (UK)

-----------------------------------------------

Joey,

The DVDs are GREAT!!! I have already firmed up and my hip (saddle bags) area has gotten smaller (not that I really had much, but I just love to be in shape) You have made a HUGE difference in my life and how I feel (both physically and about myself). Thank you sooooo much!!!

Wendy Beier

----------------------------------------------

[This one was in the Fitness DVD Order Info & Comments Box from
a client coming back to order some of my other DVD programs]:

Joey, I think your Dvds are great. I feel safe and secure putting my time, effort, money, and trust in you and your products. I see results, I feel results, and I can't wait to let my mom, and mother inlaw borrow them so they can too. (Who know's, they might buy them.) I appreciate your genuine concern and honesty. Your a peach.

Thanks, Micayle Petersen

--------------------------------------------

Hi Joey,

I've been using the abs/core dvds - they are awesome. I did level one for a week but I think I was already ready for level two . I have been using level two for two weeks doing two sets of each exercise (wow) I see a difference already. About another week or so I will step up to level three. These are some of the best exercises I have ever done for the abs and core. Keep up the good work and thanks for everything.

Thank you
Steve Boyd

Hi Joey,

Well I have to say that I am LOVING your DVDs !!! I am a massive gym
junkie and go to the gym AT LEAST 5 times a week and can I just say that
I was really struggling to get a great all over workout for my legs,
butt, hip and thighs and I was really praying to the gods that you could
help me. I have never had any problems with toning and sculpting my arms
and my stomach has always been flat but I can only ever get my top half
of my abdominal area toned and the bottom area near my hips and back
butt area was a real struggle BUT since I started to do your workout
(only on DVD 1 still - I wanna learn how to do this properly !! ) I have
to say .. WOW !!!!

My muscles feel worked all over !!! I love it and I love that to me that means I am making
an improvement but I have to be honest I've only been doing it for the
past ten days cos I have been busy, blah blah blah BUT I am now sticking
to it and I am so proud of myself and so shocked that your workout
routine and your simple instructions have helped me so much - my ASS
looks great !!! Thankyou and I love that I trusted myself enough to get
your DVD and I am looking forward to getting your others ones (the ab
workout is what I need to concentrate on as well) .

From Dafina Avramovski!!! :)

Hi Joey,

Thank you so much for the Optimum Flexibility program.

Yes I am using it and the stiffness that I have is slowly going away.
I was really surprised at the methods you used.
I thought that I will have to stay on the floor all the time and that is
a battle that I have (to get up from the floor) as I have a lower back
injury of the spine - falling from a horse as a youngster and having a
curved bottom spine.

I know that with time I will feel the sore back and legs less and less.
Thanks again.

Annette Pieters

-------------------------------------

Joey,

The Ultimate Upper Body DVDs are great! I feel great, and I'm looking great.

I've been working
on Level 2, it's fantastic, I'm going to start level 3 on monday!

William Falcone

-----------------------------------------

Joey,

I am doing really well....I am noticing a difference even though only
slightly at this stage. I was not well last week so I have had a week off
and was back into it today......I really felt it after not doing it for 7
days...but worth it.

I feel the program is easy to follow and really not that difficult to get
started so my small bit of advice to people just starting out give it a go
and you will be pleasantly surprised, I was.

At this stage I am doing it every second day and the days in between I go
for a run for 30 minutes.I can say that I am glad that I stumbled across your website.

Cheers,
Karen

-------------------------------------------------

Dear Pam and Joey

I cannot begin to thank you both and tell you how thrilled I am with your techniques! I was HIGHLY suprised to hear back from you the same night and again in the morning, first of all. That same morning, I used a suggested abdominal exercise ... I could only do four - and I am THRILLED!!! For two years I've been exercising regularly, trying to "hit" this specific target area in my abs to help recover from my abdominal injury... and I was FINALLY able to hit it! Dead on! I cannot tell you how thrilled I am! This is only day one, I'm so excited! I am so looking forward to ordering books and DVD's to see just how much farther I can go... and how much better I can feel! I'm going to tell everyone I know about you guys - including my Doctor! Thank you so very much!!!

Sincerely,
Zhayin Beee

A Truly Healthy Drink...

While I love straight water - I also enjoy a flavorful yet healthy drink at least once a day. The problem is there are not many out there that fit my criteria for a true 'fitness beverage' - actually - there are none that fit my criteria.

So I decided to start making my own a few weeks ago. I've been putting together several different flavors that I like - and my personal team of taste experts (Jeri, JoJo, Alexa and Darah and several of my clients) have been doing the official critiques. I think I'm doing well so far - because they all keep asking for more - a lot more.

Some of you already know my opinions on the garbage that goes into much of the foods we eat and the beverages we drink (as a society in general). If not - there will be a nice section of my book devoted to this topic.

Anyway - I have a feeling I am onto something with this stuff - so stay tuned...
